ANNUAL BRAVERY AWARDS PRESENTATION


Six people from Norfolk Island will be presented with bravery awards of The Royal Humane Society of Australia at a ceremony to be held at Government House, Norfolk Island:

The Society awards - 2 Silver medals and 4 Bronze Medals recognize the rescue of the two man crew of the stricken yacht "Sussex Warrior" off Norfolk Island on 10 May 2007.

At about 11.20am a rescue boat was manned by volunteer members of the Norfolk Island Division of St John Ambulance and the Norfolk Island Cliff Rescue Squad in response to a rescue call from the two-man crew of the yacht "The Sussex Warrior", anchored off Anson Bay. One crew member had a possible broken rib and the other member, an elderly male, was suffering extreme sea sickness after the yacht had been hit by a large wave.
