Adam Stone – SA

Adam Stone is commended for his brave act on 20th December 2019, during an out-of-control bushfire burnt into the Woodside area in the Adelaide Hills. Throughout the afternoon Adam Stone, operated alone, attempting to extinguish fires at properties on the outskirts of Woodside.

He drove his truck through an active fire area, transporting a woman to safety and later went to the rescue of a man who was unresponsive and suffering from critical burns, sustained whilst attempting to extinguish fires affecting structures on his property.

Mr Stone was working in a risky and dangerous environment leading up to the rescue and was surrounded by burning vegetation, fuel containers and structures during the rescue and whilst rendering first aid to the man.
